Superbad is probably in the top 10, but I think its Austin Powers for me. Hit at an age where even if you didn't get all the references the physical comedy, characters, and spy spoof stuff was more than entertaining enough.

Yeah we might have talked about it at some point or something but I think I remember you not being wild about this one. I do like the ones you've listed (though I haven't seen Sex Drive since college). I can see the stakes thing, but "last chance to get a girlfriend/get laid before I become a virgin college loser" always felt sufficient. Then again, they realize by the end of the movie that they can just hang out with their crushes, ya know, tomorrow, so I get it. (And yeah Hill has an abrasiveness to him... get that too.)

Man I need to see Fish Called Wanda, I always see it so high on your ranking, maybe I'll pick that for my next movie night with my wife.

It's always been disappointing that this movie does essentially nothing for me. American Pie, EuroTrip (RIP Michelle), Sex Drive - I love them all. So I should be all over this... but I'm mostly stone-faced during it, aside from a chuckle here and there that CMP's doofusness provides. I find Hill's energy to be fairly off-putting (in many movies, tbf), I don't like the detour into the cop characters, the 'fear of friendship' stuff kinda just makes me roll my eyes, the stakes seem nonexistent even for this genre... I don't know. Of course these type of movies are highly personal and subjective, so I'm not trying to suggest my read is superior. I just wish I liked it more. Needless to say, I recognize that I'm in the minority on it.

Daytrippers is very solid, you'll like it. Full of great quasi-character actors who make their characters into real people. Parker Posey and Campbell Scott >>>

Funniest movie ever for me is A Fish Called Wanda, though it's more than a comedy and has an amazingly well-crafted script. And it came out a couple months after I was born, so it counts as my lifetime.

I go in and out of comedy phases, but the general nature of my home country in 2025 and desire for salve and distraction has kicked off an "in" phase. They definitely feel like "home" for me in a way that horror and serious drama rarely do.

I actually haven't seen Spaceballs before. I love almost everyone in the cast so it's good to hear it's actually funny.

Dumb and Dumber, hell yeah. Definitely would make my own short list.

It's been a while since I've seen Superbad, should maybe correct that oversight.

Re: the question, I do not know. Spaceballs, if it counts ('84, I was two, but I have very early memories of it). If it's gotta be 90s, the first thing that leaps to mind is Dumb and Dumber.

I’ve never seen SUPERBAD, but I had an interesting minute or two realising that I didn’t actually have a ‘Funniest Film’ come to mind whilst contemplating your question.

I remember laughing at a number of films (This year, even) but would have difficulty telling to what the jokes were and who the jokers might have been.

Comedies are, I suspect, only occasional guest stars in my viewing schedule.
