Hannah Marks had already crafted a promising career as an actress when she pivoted to writing and filmmaking in the mid-2010s. Although her talents haven’t yet crystallized into a truly great film, she has a promising and distinctive touch as a dramedy creator unafraid of ambivalent endings.
