These are the directors whose creative arcs I’ve reviewed. Exclusion simply means I haven’t reviewed many of their films. Tiers are fluid and ever-changing. (Don’t take them too seriously.) Directors are sorted alphabetically within tiers.

Tier 1: My GOATs

My answer when you ask who my favorite directors are. They’ve made multiple masterpieces and many great films otherwise. They have a style and philosophy all their own. They are cornerstones of what I love about cinema.

Tier 2: Major Artists & Medium Reshapers

These are significant and/or influential directors with deep filmographies. If they are alive and active, they could never make another film and still have a secure legacy of greatness.

Tier 3: Minor Artists, Emerging Talent, & Hacks

Filmmakers in this tier fall into multiple categories: Up-and-comers finding their voices; mid-career talents fleshing out their filmography; compelling but minor creators; and filmmakers I just don’t care for. You decide which is which.
