Spring is on the horizon! Or maybe I’m just desperate for winter to be over. I’m still catching up with 2022‘s scraps — gold-plated scraps, as the case may be, as it’s been mostly Oscar nominees.
Last month: January 2023 Recap
Reviews:
- The Goods published 12 reviews and 2 capsules in February. The average “Is It Good?” score for these films and capsules was a 5.28, or a high “Good”
- As my main writing achievement of the month, I revised 59 legacy reviews, per my 2023 goal to polish some of the older reviews in the archive
- New releases reviewed included Women Talking, Empire of Light, and Causeway
- Best new release reviewed: Causeway
- Worst new release reviewed: Nothing especially bad this month, but I’m very annoyed All Quiet on the Western Front was nominated for Best Picture
- I also thought 38 at the Garden was disappointing
- Best classic first-time watch reviewed: Whiplash
- Best rewatch reviewed: Brief Encounter
- Ongoing Review Projects include my catch-up of 2022 movies, plus peeks into the work of Damien Chazelle
