You brought up Matt Johnson’s Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie in the podcast and it was on my list so I watched it. It felt very ambitious to me; they blended shots from their Web series, TV series, and this movie to get a fun time travel romp. (Which gives a bit more context for the long title) They also mixed some unscripted reactions in their unpermitted public shoots that give it a little more charm.
I’d be interested to hear your guys thoughts.
I got a little gun shy on Nirvana when learning it had a tie in to a show and web series. I’m always anxious about watching something without context. But I heard someone say it stands on its own well so I’d like to give it a shot
I’m planning on checking out the series. Went in fairly blind and it was difficult to pin down what kind of movie it even was at first, but that was part of the fun for me.
I’ll give the movie a go. Johnson gave a delightful interview on The Big Picture podcast that made me excited to check out his stuff.
