In mid-May 2022, I tested positive for COVID-19.ve I had just moved into a new house two days earlier. Many of the rooms had no furniture. Every room had large piles of boxes.
Per CDC guidance, I isolated to avoid spreading the bug to my wife and two children (they eventually tested positive, too). I cooped up in my new office for a week, nothing but a mattress on the floor and a laptop on a half-assembled desk.
I figured if I was going to be stuck in a room with nothing to do, I may as well make the most of it, so I decided to marathon every Tom Hanks movie I had never seen. (After all, who was the first big celebrity who tested positive in early 2020?) Every non-sleeping moment, I had a Hanks movie playing on my laptop. (My podcast co-host dubbed it “Hanksgiving” — we talked through my experience shortly afterwards.)
I have now seen every qualified Tom Hanks movies (54 as of the time of my binge, now higher). I am in the process of reviewing them, one-by-one, until all I’ve covered them all. (I will eventually expand the reviews of films that just have capsules, too.)
Once I’ve published reviews for all of the movies, I will make a master ranking. In the meantime, you can click through my reviews below.
